Astrology offers a unique lens through which you can understand your personality, and by using it to guide your interior design choices, you can create a home environment that resonates with every aspect of who you are.

The Significance of the “Big Three” in Astro Design

In astrology, the Sun, Moon, and Rising signs—often referred to as the “Big Three”—are key components of your astrological chart. These elements provide deep insights into different facets of your personality, and understanding them can influence your home decor style. However, your astrological chart is more intricate than just these three signs. For instance, having multiple planets in a specific sign—like Mercury, Sun, Venus, and Saturn all in Leo—can make that sign a dominant force in your life, especially in how you express yourself and design your surroundings. Leo, a fixed fire sign, brings a passionate energy that might inspire bold and creative home decor choices.

How Multiple Planetary Influences Shape Your Style

In my case, the heavy Leo influence makes me very Leo-oriented—expressive and drawn to statement design elements. However, my fiery disposition is tempered by a Cancer Moon and Capricorn Rising. For example, the Capricorn Ascendant infuses my approach to home design with practicality, organisation, and a preference for structure and elegance, while my Cancer Moon adds a touch of warmth, comfort, and emotional depth. This blend of energies—fire, earth, and water—creates a unique interplay that influences my personality and approach to creating a harmonious living space.

So, how does this translate into actual home design? Understanding the different aspects of your birth chart, particularly the Big Three, can help you see how each sign and planetary placement affects your personality and, consequently, your decor preferences. In this Astro-Decor guide, I’ll use my own chart as a reference to help you combine your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs to craft a home that truly feels like you.

While basing your home design on just your Sun sign can be a good start, it only captures a part of your personality. Many people don’t fully identify with their Sun sign alone because so many other influences are at play within their chart. By considering the Big Three—the Sun, Moon, and Rising signs—you gain a fuller picture of your style preferences and how they can be integrated into your living space. I am a Leo Sun, Cancer Moon, and Capricorn Rising, which gives me a unique blend of vibrant, nurturing, and disciplined energies. By understanding the personality traits and home decor styles associated with each of these signs, we can create a living space that truly reflects the essence of who I am. Personality

Leos, born between July 23 and August 22, are known for their charismatic and vibrant presence. Ruled by the Sun, Leos exudes warmth, generosity, and a zest for life. They are confident, thrive on admiration, and often take on leadership roles with ease. Driven by pride and a desire to leave a lasting impression, Leos are also fiercely loyal and protective of their loved ones. Their optimistic and enthusiastic outlook on life makes them natural motivators. However, their strong personalities can sometimes come off as domineering or stubborn.

Leo Astro-Decor Style

In Astro Design, Leo’s home is a bold reflection of their personality. Leos gravitate toward spaces that are both inviting and stylish, often incorporating a mix of bold colourways like vibrant oranges, punchy pinks, and bold turquoise. They love dramatic, statement pieces—think ornate mirrors, grand chandeliers, and striking artwork that draws the eye. A Leo’s love for entertaining means their home is designed to impress, with well-thought-out seating arrangements and touches of opulence that make guests feel special. Cancers, born between June 21 and July 22, are intuitive, sensitive, and deeply nurturing. Ruled by the Moon, they are known for their empathetic nature and strong connections to loved ones. While their sensitivity can sometimes lead to moodiness, Cancers find solace in their home and family, which are central to their lives. Ruled by Saturn, they possess a strong sense of responsibility and are determined to achieve long-term success. Though they may appear reserved, Capricorns have a dry sense of humour and a deep appreciation for the finer things in life.

In Astro Design, the living room should reflect this by incorporating a mix of bold colours, cosy sofas for relaxation and occasional chairs with vibrant, quirky patterns. These pieces serve as both focal points and conversation-starters. Add a touch of glamour with oversized, uniquely designed artisan ceiling pendants, and consider polished parquet flooring topped with an oversized, vibrant area rug for added warmth and style. Lighting is key in a Leo-inspired living room—think of a combination of pendant, wall, floor, and table lamps that can be adjusted to suit various social activities.

Home Office Astro-Decor Style

Capricorn Rising

Capricorn Rising brings disciplined, ambitious energy ideal for the home office. Astro Design in this space should reflect Capricorn’s preference for order and structure. Consider a somewhat masculine aesthetic, regardless of gender, with clean, crisp white walls complemented by petrol grey feature walls that signify strength and power. Floor-to-ceiling storage units with bamboo-slatted doors add both function and style. Brushed black ceiling pendants and desk lighting keep the space sleek and professional, while motivational prints or artwork inspire productivity. Complete the look with plenty of plants, air purifiers, and essential oils to create an uplifting yet grounded vibe.

Cancer Moon

The bedroom is where the nurturing and sensitive Cancer Moon can truly shine. Astro Design for a Cancer-inspired bedroom focuses on creating an uber-luxurious retreat. Think crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets, flowing linen curtains, and faux fur throws that invite comfort and relaxation. Scatter cushions add a touch of softness, while plush organic wool carpeting provides warmth underfoot. Soft lighting, paired with pale blue walls, creates a soothing environment. Natural mango wood furniture adds a grounding, earthy element that enhances the room’s serene, nurturing vibe.

Kitchen Astro-Decor Style

Cancer, Leo, Capricorn

The kitchen, often a multi-purpose space, can incorporate elements from all three signs to create a balanced and functional environment. Start with Capricorn’s organised, practical approach by installing a bespoke fitted kitchen that is sleek and efficient, with storage solutions down to a T. Add Leo’s spark of glamour with vibrant artwork, bold seating, or a striking splashback against a neutral backdrop. Finally, bring in the Cancerian touch with nostalgic finds or sentimental pieces that evoke a sense of warmth and connection to the past.

Bathroom Astro-Decor Style

Cancer Moon

The bathroom is the perfect space to channel the calming, nurturing energy of the Cancer Moon. Balancing Styles for Couples

Astro Design is also an excellent tool for couples who have different tastes in home decor. Often, one partner takes the lead in decorating, but when there’s a clash of wills, your birth charts can help find a compromise. For example, if one partner has a Leo Sun and the other has a Cancer Sun, their ideas of the perfect living room might differ. In such cases, you can break down each sign’s preferences and find a middle ground. The Cancer Sun partner might design a cosy, retreat-like bedroom. In contrast, the Leo Sun partner could focus on the living room, making it a space for socialising and entertaining.
