My Astrology Diary — A Journey from the Ground Up ✨🌙

I’ve decided to start a diary of my journey into officially learning astrology from the ground up.

I’ve actually been a student of astrology for as long as I can remember. It really sparked my interest around the age of 15, and thankfully, on my 17th birthday, my mum bought me a personal horoscope by Jonathan Cainer.

That turned out to be something I’m incredibly grateful for, because it contains my exact birth time details. I may never have had that information otherwise. My mum has since passed away, so having that feels even more meaningful now.

I don’t have my brother’s birth time, which honestly frustrates me, because I know how much a matter of minutes can change an entire chart. I am aware that chart rectification exists, although at this point I have no idea how to do it — but I’m determined to learn one day. I’d really love to understand his blueprint properly. It fascinates me.

So why am I starting this journey now, as I fast approach 50?

I’ve spent the last 20-odd years studying and working in interior design, and while I still love design deeply — and absolutely need creativity in my life — I’ve started to feel a pull toward something deeper.

Looking at my own chart, this actually makes sense. I have a stellium in the 8th house, which is associated with transformation, the hidden, the unseen, and psychological change. I also have my Midheaven and Uranus in Scorpio — a sign linked with secrets, power, depth, and rebirth.

It’s been really interesting to start understanding why I’ve always felt drawn to things that are more mysterious, psychological, and layered beneath the surface.

Over the years, I’ve always asked people their star sign. From that one small detail, I’ve found myself noticing patterns in personality types and recognising familiar traits in different people. It’s funny — I can forget names very easily, but I rarely forget someone’s star sign.

I’ve dabbled in a couple of short courses and read books over the years, and while I did pick things up, I always struggled to really retain the foundations — things like signs, houses, and planets just didn’t fully stick.

That’s why I’ve decided to properly commit and study with the London School of Astrology, so I can really ground myself in the basics. Because I do believe that once you truly understand the fundamentals, everything else starts to make much more sense.

I also think documenting my journey will help me retain what I’m learning. And if there are others out there learning astrology too, I hope my words might resonate or support you along the way. If you ever want to reach out or start a conversation, please feel free.

As a creative person, I can’t just learn by watching or reading — I also need to create. I originally planned to dedicate all my time purely to studying, but I quickly realised that wasn’t working for me. I wasn’t using my creativity, and when that part of me isn’t expressed, I stop enjoying things as much.

So I’ve started making visuals alongside my learning — both to help me understand astrology more deeply, and to keep that creative part of me alive.

And that feels like the right balance for me right now.

Until next time,
Karen x
