Understanding Fire Signs in Astrology

Aries

21 March -20 April

Aries, the first of the fire signs in the zodiac, is ruled by Mars, the planet of action. Known for their adventurous and dynamic spirit, people born under this sign are energetic and enthusiastic and love taking the initiative. While they can be quick-tempered and impatient, they also possess a childlike nature. Aries individuals are drawn to vibrant colours, dynamic designs, and innovative solutions.

Leo

23 July – 23 August

Leo, ruled by the Sun, is the sign of creativity, leadership, and confidence. The Sun’s influence gives Leo an illuminated vibe, and they love to shine on others, helping them shine, too. Leo is organised due to their need to be in control and will always lend a hand to those who can’t be as organised. As a fixed sign, Leos can be dogmatic and always think they’re right, although they usually are (I’m not a Leo, honest). Leos are known for their love of luxury—after all, they are royalty—but labels aren’t a priority as long as the home looks beautiful.

Sagittarius

23 November 21 December

Sagittarius, a fire sign ruled by Jupiter, is associated with expansion, learning, and philosophy, seamlessly blending into the essence of Sagittarius. Sagittarians are enthusiastic, optimistic, and future-oriented. They love to work on the next big thing, whether it’s a project, a new gym routine, or planning another holiday. Sagittarians need freedom and dislike being tied down or confined. An open-plan living space with room to breathe suits them perfectly.

Fire Signs: Feng Shui

The fire element in Feng Shui represents passion, energy, and transformation. It is essential to create spaces that inspire creativity and action. Incorporating the fire element involves using materials and colours that evoke warmth and dynamism, hues of reds, oranges, and yellows. Fire elements can be incorporated through lighting, candles, and artwork that embodies movement and energy.

Fire Signs: Materials, Products & Furnishings

To infuse your home with the vibrancy and warmth of fire energy, consider incorporating the following elements:

Light: Light is a direct representation of fire energy. If your space lacks natural light, enhance it with artificial lighting. To create a balanced and inviting atmosphere, use pendant, wall, floor, and table lamps. An open fireplace brings natural fire energy into your home, while an electric fireplace can also mimic this effect. Candles are a simple yet powerful way to introduce fire energy; opt for natural candles infused with essential oils like rose or frankincense that bring a high vibe frequency into your home.

Animal Representation: Incorporate items such as animal hide rugs, faux fur throws, fur cushions, leather sofas, occasional chairs, and suede-covered furniture to bring a sense of warmth and texture, channelling the primal essence of fire energy.

Artwork: Select dynamic artwork with vibrant colour palettes. Pieces depicting bustling cityscapes, active animals, or modern art with diamond and triangular shapes can convey a sense of movement and energy, enhancing the fire element in your home.

Colour: Utilise shades and tones from the red, pink, orange, and magenta colour families. Full-spectrum colours aren’t necessary; subtle hues and tones can be more suitable for modern interiors while still invoking the desired fire energy.

Animals: In feng shui, animals symbolise fire energy. If you already have pets like dogs or cats, their presence contributes to the fire element in your home, so consider this when adding additional fire elements.

Shapes: Diamonds and triangles are associated with fire energy. Integrate these shapes as motifs on curtains, cushions, throws, bedding, and wallpaper. Additionally, look for furniture, glassware, decorative accessories, and artwork featuring these shapes to enhance the fire energy in your space.

Fire Signs & Eco-Friendly Design Tips

Creating a home that reflects the vibrant energy of fire signs while embracing eco-friendly principles is both inspiring and rewarding. Fire signs—Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius—thrive in dynamic and invigorating environments.

Fire Signs: Eco-Friendly Home

Aries, Leo & Sagittarius

  • Eco-Friendly Products: Use sustainable materials like bamboo, cork, reclaimed wood, and recycled metals.
  • Indoor Plants: Introduce indoor plants that purify the air. The top six include the Areca Palm, Lady Palm, Bamboo Palm, Rubber plant, Dracaena Fragrans (Janet Craig), and Peace Lilies.
  • Natural Light: Maximise natural light by opening curtains & blinds and incorporating extra natural light with skylights and bifold doors.

Fire Signs: Organising

Aries, Leo & Sagittarius

  • Innovative Shelving: Use storage cubes with vibrant box inserts to add a splash of colour, or natural wood innovatively designed shelving that creates a feature in the room. Open storage solutions are a great way to display art, sculptures, and glassware.
  • Storage Solutions: Choose natural solutions such as recycled paper storage boxes, hessian, rattan, jute and bamboo.
  • Declutter Regularly: All signs need an organised space that helps them feel grounded and at peace.

Fire Signs: Toxin-Free Materials

Aries, Leo & Sagittarius

  • Natural Fibers: Use organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, wool, and linen for upholstery, flooring, curtains, blinds, cushions and bedding.
  • Low-VOC Paints: To maintain healthy indoor air quality, choose interior paints such as Little Greene, Earthborn, Nordfärg and eicó, which contain low volatile organic compounds.
  • Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products: Opt for non-toxic cleaning products such as Homethings, Faith In Nature, Ecover and Method, which are non-polluting.

Indoor Air Quality – Cleaning – Aroma – Energy

Aries, Leo & Sagittarius

  • Purify the Air: Open windows daily to replenish stale air, and use air purifiers to keep the air fresh and clean.
  • Natural Scents: Invigorate the space by diffusing essential oils such as cedarwood, frankincense, lime and orange
  • Regular Cleaning: Maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure your home is clean and energised.

Fire Signs: Human-Centred Design

Aries, Leo & Sagittarius

The fire signs—Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius—are feisty, action-oriented, and passionate. They thrive on constant activity and often feel uneasy when things aren’t moving at full speed. However, fire signs need to embrace the ebb and flow of life and understand the value of taking a breath. They won’t always be in a state of high creativity and productivity. Sometimes, they need to stop and smell the roses, contemplate, and let things happen naturally.

Taking a walk in nature or by the sea will nurture you with negative ions and burning incense, or using essential oils can help fire signs relax. Learning to step back allows things to come to them instead of always pushing forward. As the saying goes, “The more you chase, the quicker they run.” Fire signs need to learn to chill. Nature, with its negative ions, has a beneficial effect on our bodies. Fire signs should take time to sit back, listen to some Eckhart Tolle, and be at one with the power of now.
