Grapefruit essential oil is cold-pressed from the peel of the grapefruit (Citrus × paradisi), a hybrid fruit that originated in the 18th century as a cross between a pomelo and an orange. Most grapefruit oil today is produced in the U.S. (especially Florida), Brazil, and Israel.
