Leigh-on-Sea Interior Design: Dining Room Inspiration

Welcome to our latest Leigh-on-Sea interior design project! In this transformation, we turned a dining room into a quirky, cosy, and inviting space perfect for intimate dinner parties and lively gatherings. This case study offers a deeper look into our design process, highlighting the creative choices we made and showcasing how we bring our client’s visions to life.

Project Brief: 

Our client came to us with a clear vision: they wanted a dining area that felt both unique and welcoming, a space where family and friends could gather comfortably. One key inspiration was the “Gallery Wallpaper” by Andrew Martin, which they had admired in our home. This wallpaper quickly became the focal point for the entire design, influencing everything from the colour scheme to the choice of materials and furnishings. The client also wanted to update the existing, non-working fireplace with a sleek built-in electric one, all while retaining the original flooring for consistency.

Leigh-on-Sea Interior Design: Inspiration

The “Gallery Wallpaper” was the perfect starting point for the room’s design. This wallpaper, featuring gold picture frames with mid-century artwork in a neutral colour palette, sets the tone for a stylish yet comfortable dining space. To maintain balance and cohesion, we used the coordinating motif wallpaper for the other walls, creating a sophisticated backdrop that allowed the artwork to shine without overwhelming the room.

Natural Elements 

Staying true to the natural theme, we sourced a stunning circular dining table with a tree base and a clear glass top. The glass ensured that the table didn’t overpower the space, keeping the room feeling airy and open. To complement the table’s natural feel, we selected leather and fur dining chairs, adding a touch of luxury while keeping the room warm and eclectic.

Balancing Bold Choices & Practicalities 

At first, we planned to paint the ceiling in gold to create a striking dramatic effect. However, knowing that the client was contemplating a move in the near future, we decided against it to ensure the design would appeal to potential buyers. Instead, we focused on other distinctive elements that would still make a bold statement without the ceiling colour. This balance of creativity and practicality is a key part of our Leigh-on-Sea interior design philosophy.

Statement Pieces

To add personality and flair, we selected an oversized antique antler light fixture to hang above the dining table. This piece not only adds drama but is also adjustable, allowing for a cosy atmosphere when needed. An antique deer head wall plaque ties in seamlessly with the fur chairs, bringing in an element of old-world charm that echoes the room’s eclectic vibe.

For the fireplace, we chose a stone-feature wall paired with an electric fire, creating a soft, ambient glow that adds warmth and depth to the space. This focal point not only serves as a functional element but also enhances the overall design, making the room feel even more inviting.
